--------------------------------------------------------------------------
a. DEADLINE FOR VIENNA
Vienna Conference- See http://vci.hephy.at/2010/
Abstracts:The deadline for abstract submission is November 16, 2009.
We have two so far- need a couple more. (It'll be an excellent
conference, and the food and wine are good.).
The selection will be made by the International Scientific Advisory
Committee together with the Organising Committee and will take place
beginning of January 2010. No confirmation can be given before that
date.
Requirements
The abstract must be submitted via the Indico tool (see below). It
should not exceed 1500 characters (including header and empty
lines). In addition, except for the invited talks, it must be
accompanied by one full size page of more detailed information in
order to allow the selection committee to make a sound decision. It
should put the emphasis on new developments or at least reflect the
progress achieved since the last Conference (2007). Please keep in
mind that the presentation time for short talks is 20 minutes
(discussion not included). For invited talks only the abstract is
needed.
Submission Process
Please submit your abstract via the CERN Indico system. It will allow
you to create a new user account, if you did not have already
one.
Suggested Abstracts (I just made these up- feel free to roll your own):
1. Gain and lifetime Measurements of ALD functionalized MCP plates
2. Measurements of SEE and PE for ALD candidates for MCP-PMT's.
3. Results on Expected Gain and Time Resolution in Saturated
MCP Pores.
4. Development of a 20-40 GHz Waveform Sampling Chip for
fast timing measurements
5. The LAPPD Project
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
b. Get some high-quality help cheap:
`There's a new DOE Office of Science Graduate
>Student Fellowship program. It's open to U.S. citizens at a U.S.
>institution and provides support for three years. The application
>deadline is very soon -- Nov 30. The student is the one to apply,
>and everything is submitted online.
>
>http://www.scied.science.doe.gov/SCGF.html ' (from Kathy Harkay)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
c. Argonne is advertising for a Senior Physicist to head up a
proposal effort for a National Center for Advanced Detector
Development, and (co-incidently), to work with us leading the
Integration Effort under Bob. See:
