Top quark mass measurement in events with jets and missing transverse energy using CDF dull dataset

ttbar -> top-quark pair missing energy -> missing transverse energy that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 8.7 fb-1. when you say "including events that contain tau leptons", do you want to emphasize the majority of events are from tau-channel?

p2-l24: how the 18% is calculated? e.g., the expected improvement from increase of data is 23.5% (1-sqrt(8.7/5.7)), the actual improvement (2.4/172.3->1.6/173.9) is 34%. Therefore, the improvement on top of 23.5% is about 9%.

It was calculated this way: first calculate the estimated error by scaling from old analysis: 2.4/sqrt(8.7/5.7); then compare that calculation with the error 1.6 from full data set, which gives around 18% improvement.

p4. table I: In the analysis, are you only separating the sample by tagged jets, or you are also separating the by the number jets? I am asking because in the previous page, you stated that the sample is separated into two, but you are showing four columns in the table.

We also separate event by num of jets. A sentence is added here to explain why.

p5-l19. This answered my previous question. revise the statement ...therefore we further separate the sample by the number of jets in the event.
