CPS 7th grade students are invited to apply for participation in a course on particle physics at the University of Chicago. University faculty and students will give lectures on particle physics and doing experiments. Students will participate in a hands-on lab experiment measuring cosmic rays. Students will get help writing up their results and will present the results to the group. For their good work, students will get a certificate of participation in the program. There will also be a field trip to Fermilab.
The program takes place at the Kersten Physics Teaching Center, 5720 South Ellis Avenue, Chicago.
To apply, please contact your science teacher no later than May 20.
Note: Students will need to arrange their own transportation to and from the University of Chicago campus.
