Generating and stntupling ttbar with Herwig and Pythia


Make a new test release area:

  • source ~cdfsoft/cdf2.cshrc
  • setup cdfsoft2

    Copy the following scripts into your area:

    If you are generating Herwig, copy the following scripts into your area:

    mc_tt_dilepton_herwig.tcl mc_tt_dilepton_herwig.tcl
    tt_dilepton_herwig.tcl tt_dilepton_herwig.tcl
    run_cdfSim_3160.tcl run_cdfSim_3160.tcl
    output_banklist.tcl output_banklist.tcl

    If you are generating Pythia, copy the following scripts into your area:

    mc_tt_dilepton_pythia.tcl mc_tt_dilepton_pythia.tcl
    tt_dilepton_pythia.tcl tt_dilepton_pythia.tcl
    run_cdfSim_3160.tcl run_cdfSim_3160.tcl
    output_banklist.tcl output_banklist.tcl

    If you wish to run just generation, copy this file also:
    run_cdfSim_3160_genonly.tcl
    The main difference between this tcl file and the run_cdfSim_3160.tcl file is that in the genonly tcl file, the SimInitManager and SimulationControlMod need to be disabled.

    Look over the scripts and change the input and output locations as appropriate.
    If you want to only do the generation and no simulation, you need to replace the "source run_cdfSim_3160.tcl" line with "source run_cdfSim_3160_genonly.tcl".

    Run cdfSim:

  • cdfSim mc_tt_dilepton_herwig.tcl

    Copy the production tcl file into your area:

  • cp $CDFSOFT2_DIR/Production/run_Production.tcl .

    Look over the run_Production.tcl file and change the input and output locations.

    Run ProductionExe

  • ProductionExe run_Production.tcl

    If you have a stntuple area, then you already know how to make a stntuple and just go ahead and do that from the production output. Otherwise, follow the directions on the link to the Run II Stntuple Web Pages to make a stntuple from the output of production.
